About

Curious, Thoughtful, Experienced.

Hi,

I earned my doctorate in Clinical and School Psychology from James Madison University. I specialize in individual, group, and couples therapy for late adolescents and adults. I have held roles in healthcare systems, college counseling centers, and school systems, with clients of differing backgrounds and experiences. I have a well-developed understanding of healthy and unhealthy psychological functioning across the lifespan.

I believe in the power of talk therapy. I practice using an integrative approach that incorporates the major psychotherapy theoretical orientations (i.e., cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, family systems, relational-cultural, emotion-focused, & existential), the developmental-lifespan perspective, with respect for culture and context.

What this means is that therapy could explore many aspects of who you are, such as your multiple identities (race, social class, gender, sexuality, religion), behaviors, beliefs, life experiences, thoughts and feelings, and relationships. As a black psychologist, I recognize and appreciate how one’s identities and experiences affect how they see themselves and the world and how to live in it.

My therapeutic style is relational, in which I strive to be open, genuine, and attuned to facilitate a positive therapy experience. My hope is to build a relationship with you in which you can trust, reflect, grow, and progress. My goal is to work collaboratively with you to help you achieve your goals and to develop a happier, calmer, and more authentic self.

If you have any questions about my clinical or academic training or qualifications, please do not hesitate to ask me.
